M.A.E.S. Therapy Advanced A.R.T. Course – Croatia
A.R.T.  =  Advance, Refresh, Troubleshoot

In May 2026, this M.A.E.S. Advanced Course once again took place on the beautiful Adriatic Coast of Croatia, near Šibenik. Due to continued high demand, this was the third consecutive year that we have run this highly valued advanced course in this charming beachfront location.

It was a truly international gathering of M.A.E.S. Trained Therapists, with participants joining from Croatia, Serbia, Poland, Taiwan, the UK and the USA. The atmosphere throughout the week was one of shared curiosity, commitment and professional generosity — an aMAESing team spirit was evident from the very beginning, with everyone enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, and the opportunity to spend time on the beach after the course finished at 3.00pm each day.

Led by Jean-Pierre Maes, the course offered an inspiring opportunity for experienced paediatric therapists to deepen their understanding, refine their observation and clinical reasoning skills, and expand their treatment repertoire when working with children with Cerebral Palsy and similar neurodevelopmental conditions.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a rich and varied learning experience, including theoretical lectures, treatment demonstrations, workshops, case presentations and supervised daily practical sessions with children. This combination of analysis, discussion, observation and hands-on clinical practice allowed therapists to further develop the confidence, creativity and precision needed to take their M.A.E.S. Therapy skills to a more advanced level.

The Advanced A.R.T. Course is designed to help therapists advance, refresh and troubleshoot their clinical work. It supports participants in moving beyond familiar treatment patterns, sharpening their ability to identify what is most relevant for each child, and developing more effective therapeutic strategies to support meaningful change.

Many thanks to our local organiser, Marija Maras PT, M.A.E.S. Trained Therapist, for arranging the venue, equipment and children for the course, and for organising everything so well.

We also extend our thanks to all the families and children who contributed to making this week such a valuable and memorable learning experience.

For therapists who have already completed the 4-Week M.A.E.S. Therapy Foundation Course, the Advanced A.R.T. Course offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with the M.A.E.S. clinical reasoning process, develop further treatment confidence, and be part of an inspiring international learning community.

If you are a M.A.E.S. Trained Therapist and would like to continue developing your skills, we warmly invite you to consider joining us for the next Advanced A.R.T. Course in Croatia in May 2027.
