We are inviting children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) between the ages of 2-10 years old, to attend specialist 1-hour  therapy sessions, daily for 1 week  (5 sessions) – held as part of a specialist advanced training course for Paediatric Therapists – M.A.E.S. Course

For families local to London, this is a lovely opportunity for your child to attend specialist 1 hour therapy sessions each day for 1 week (5 days). It is also a way for you to experience your child being viewed and treated from a different therapy perspective.

We are running our MAES Therapy Course in August this year for Paediatric Therapists who wish to specialise or to further specialise in the treatment of children with Cerebral Palsy and similar neuro-developmental conditions and who want to gain new knowledge and expert clinical skills to ensure that they continue to deliver high quality therapy .

During the course there will be Practical Sessions, and therapists will work in pairs or small groups with a child.  They will assess and treat the child under the supervision of international expert and Course Leader, Mr Jean-Pierre Maes MCSP, Consultant Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapist and colleagues from MAES Therapy.

As it is a course for therapists, the primary aim is to develop therapists’ skills in observation, in clinical reasoning and expanding their treatment repertoire. Parents of children on the course should be aware that their presence is to support the learning process and not for the children to be primarily treated by the course leader and therapists.
Nevertheless, there is a clear benefit for both the children and their parents.

There will be no charge for these treatment sessions as they are offered as part of a training course.

We are looking for children with a variety of ages ( 2-8 years) and presentations of CP (not syndromes):

Ataxia (lesion or anomaly with the Cerebellum),
Dyskinetic CP (lesion of the Basal Ganglia/HIE ),
Pre-term with PVL (lesion in the White Matter), or neonatal stroke
Diplegia
Hemiplegia.

Please contact us and then we can call you to discuss and see if your child would be suitable for the course.
